On March 12, a Shinkansen had to make an unfortunate stop, according to Rocket News 24. The web site states that the Shinkansen operator dropped a 10 Yen coin into the controller of the train. The coin was difficult to remove so the train was deemed “unfit” to drive. All passengers were transferred to another train.
From what I can tell, this is like dropping a quarter into your shifter in your American car. It may be difficult to retrieve if it falls in just the right spot. (And yes, shifter is an official technical term created by me.)
